Sailors to Tab Their Own to Lead Girls Soccer

Dan O’Brien Named Coach of the Year

Head Vermilion girls soccer coach Dan O’Brien was named division 2 Lorain County coach of the year by the Lorain County Soccer Coaches Association. Coach O’Brien just completed his third year at the helm for the Sailors. The team finished the regular season 11-5-1 and made a trip all the way to the district semi-final

Five Girls Soccer Sailors Earn All-SBC

Mikayla Lindo earns the conference Most Outstanding Performer and leads five Sailors on the All-SBC Bay Division Girls Soccer team. Come out and see them travel to Norwalk to take on the Truckers in a Sectional Championship game on Saturday at 3pm.

Claudia Wilson Commits to Mount Union University

Graduating Senior Claudia Wilson has committed to continue her academic and soccer prowess at Mount Union University. Claudia was a goal keeper for the Vermilion Sailors and was a huge part in the programs resurgence over the past three years. OHSAA Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award

The Ohio High Schoo Athletic Association strongly supports good sportsmanship among the youth and adults in our schools and workplaces. This award, named for two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin, is presented each year to a male and female student who have been outstanding in their efforts to promote sportsmanship in their school and community.

Sailor Wins State Leadership Award

The Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association (OSSCA) recently informed Vermilion Sailor Athletics that senior Riley Allen won the “OSSCA Leadership Award presented by the Ohio National Guard.”  The award is given to only one girl and one boy in the state.   She was nominated by head coach Dan O’Brien a couple of months ago.
