The Vermilion Sailors bats were strong against Sandusky on Monday, but it wasn’t enough as Vermilion Sailors Varsity fell 16-11.

Sandusky scored one in the first. They took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning.

Vermilion Sailors Varsity tallied seven runs in the third inning. Haley Larizza, Emma Kretchmar, Jayden Peak, Grace Mealey, Emilley Smith, and Lillie Mealey powered the big inning with RBIs.

Danielle McGlothlin was in the circle for Vermilion Sailors. The righthander struck out seven. Morgan Potts threw one and two-thirds innings in relief.

The Sailors collected 20 hits on the day. Kretchmar, Grace Payne, Grace Mealey, Jenna Peters, Smith, Lillie Mealey, and Larizza each managed multiple hits for Vermilion. Kretchmar went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Vermilion Sailors in hits. Next up for the Sailors is an away game on Wednesday against Tiffin Columbian.
