In the second game of the double header, the Sailors used a shaken up line up to once again subdue the Pirates and garner yet another victory for the Junior Varsity team. Short handed due to injury, the Sailors were able to scratch out 8 – 0 victory over the visitors. The Sailors put two on the board in the first inning and single runs in the third and fifth innings before putting the game away with 4 spot in the 6th. Jack Wells, Brock Fisher, and Jacob Reutter each collected two hits. Konner Clark and Mater Shultz each drove in two runs apiece. Ty Koeth collected his first hit on the year and and Clark and Jayden Fox added singles as well. On the defensive side, Konner “K” Clark was in rare form as he was able to strike out 11 Pirate batters while walking only 2 in a complete game effort. When Clark was not striking batters out the Sailors were making plays behind them as they turned 2 double plays to help keep the Pirates from getting across the plate. In the fifth inning, Jacob Reutter, making his first start behind the plate, caught a popped up bunt and fired a rocket to first to double off the Pirate runner. Shultz, Wells and Fisher were not to be out done as they went around the horn turn their own double play to short circuit another Pirate inning.
The Sailors look to extend their win streak one more game on Monday as they face the Port Clinton Redskins at home at 4:45pm
