The Sailors wrapped up SBC play with a record of 10-2 on Tuesday. They got off to a slow start and couldn’t get the edge on the Truckers in the first set. The second set was a on the Sailors side though they started off behind again. Marissa Garcia was able to serve the Sailors back into the lead at 18 points, but Norwalk went up again. Julie Plott served an ace to tie 24-24 and served out the second set forcing a third. The Truckers didn’t give up easy and made the Sailors work for the second set with multiple long volleys. Vermilion ended the set and match 25-11. Leading scorers included Ava Owens with 6 kills, Sophia Flemister and Rachael Lapka each with 2. Angelique Garcia had 5 aces. Flemister and Aubree Kennedy each had solo blocks. Julie Plott, Marissa Garcia, and Haley Larizza led the defense with digs. The Sailors host their final match of the season tomorrow against Madison Comprehensive.
