The Sailors junior varsity grabbed their second win on the year topping Port Clinton 12-6 in a hard fought contest.
Both teams went scoreless for the first 19 minutes and 50 seconds of the contest until AJ Jackson picked off a pass near the goal line and rumbled 96 yards for the pick six, giving the Sailors a 6-0 at the half.
Port Clinton would strike in the third quarter with a long touchdown run themselves. After three quarters of play it was all tied up at 6 apiece. The Sailors defense would step up again, this time Hakeem Lewis would strip the Port Clinton ball carrier and would run it back to the one yard line. Keegan Frey would punch it in for the go ahead score, and the Sailors led 12-6 after the 2 point conversion was no good.
The Sailors defense would get big stops as time wound down in the fourth to secure the 12-6 victory.
With the win the junior varsity squad improves to 2-1 on the year. They return to action next Saturday at home to take on the Huron Tigers.
