The boys freshmen jumped out to an early lead Friday night, and never looked back as they topped the Willard Crimson Flashes 51-23.
The freshmen stormed out to an early 15-4 lead in the first quarter of play, and continued to bolster their lead into the second quarter. The freshmen would hold Willard to 4 points in each of the first two quarters. The Sailors would add 10 of their own in the second quarter, and found themselves up 25-8 at the break.
Another big defensive effort by the Sailors in the third quarter, saw the freshmen continue to push their 17 point halftime lead. The Sailors would add 14 in the quarter, and once more would hold Willard to single digits in the quarter, as Willard would only score 5 in the third. The Sailors would score 12 more in the fourth and sailed to 51-23 victory over Willard.
Jack Wells would pace the Sailors with a game high 11 points. Gus Matheson was right behind him with 10. Quinton Adams added 9, and Donevan Lewis finished with 7. Ethan Hendrickson was good for 5, and Ben Rini chipped in 4. Blake Crase finished the night with 3, and Cole Groene rounded out the scoring with 2.
With the win the freshmen improve to 14-3 on the year, and 9-1 in conference play. The return to action Wednesday when they travel to Margaretta to take on the Polar Bears.
