The Vermilion boy’s freshmen basketball team over came a 4 point deficit at the half to knock off the Bay Rockets by a final score of 52-35.
The Sailors got off to an early 7-4 lead after one, but the Rockets put up 16 points in the second to give themselves a 4 point lead at the half. The Sailors came out the second half and quickly erased the 4 point deficit. The Sailors held the Rockets to 6 third quarter points, and tallied up 18 to give them an 8 point lead heading into the fourth. The Sailors then closed out the game knocking down 9 of their 12 free throw attempts in the fourth to close out the game.
Matt Saegert led the freshmen squad with a game high 15 points. Zach Jones, Hunter Etienne, and Uriah Rhoads all finished with 9 in the win.
The Sailor boy’s freshmen team, now 13-4, take their 6 game win steak on the road Tuesday night to take on Clearview in a non-conference match-up.
