The 7th grade girls volleyball team beat Margaretta in 3 sets Thurs.night. The girls really came together as a team to bring home the win! Kaitlyn Colohan ,and Maddie Stout led the team offensively, while Rachel Lapka had the game winning kill. Gracie Starcovic had 23 service points. All of the girls should be very proud of the progress that they are making. Next up Tri match at Bay Village Sat. at 9:00 a.m. The girls are now 4-1

Meet Recap

Mother Nature almost interfered with our dual match against Sandusky on Thursday afternoon. After a brief rain delay, and then a joint effort in preparing the playing surface, The teams were able to get most of an abbreviated match finished. Sandusky was able to sweep all three singles matches (8-0) against Kelsey Osborn, Skyler Myers, and Olivia Stacklin. The first Doubles team of Kiana Fridrich and Karsyn Brewer fought through a light drizzle and cold winds, yet were unable to get ahead of the Sandusky girls. (2-8). The 2nd Doubles team of Macy Boger and Erin Brenner did not get to finish their match Thursday, but will be finishing up on the conclusion of our next match @ Sandusky later this month. The score before being rained out was Vermilion 3, Sandusky 4 in a tight match.

The Sailors travel to the LCAAA Tournament in Avon Lake Friday and Saturday.

The 8th grade Lady Sailors maintain their unblemished record improving to 5-0 with a victory over the Margaretta Polar Bears in two! Game one was a close finish with a 26-24 victory after some scrappy defense on both sides of the net. Julie Plott served 6 for 6 while Kayla Kearns went 7 for 7. The Sailors finished off the bear cubs with a 25-17 win in game two and will host Avon and Bay at home on Saturday beginning at 9:00 am.

Game Recap

The 8th grade girls volleyball team continued their winning ways on Tuesday defeating Oak Harbor in two straight. The Sailors started slowly, but behind great defense and fantastic passing, the ladies were able to put away the visiting Rockets. The girls continue a busy week Thursday night as they travel to Margaretta to play a strong Polar Bear team. They finish out the week at home on Saturday morning in a tri against two tough teams in Avon and Bay Village. First serve on Saturday will be at 9 am in the SMS gym.

Meet Recap

The boys golf team had their best night of the year tonight. Reese Miller led the team with a bogey free round and finished with a one under par 35 at Thunderbird’s north course. Joby Pfeil and Noah Cacciatore followed right behind with 39s. Brock Fisher came up with his first eagle of his young career and brought in a 42 for his team. Mason Montgomery and Sam Herron also had good rounds, shooting a 44 and 46 respectively.

Game Recap

The Lady Sailors defeated the Lady Bears from Margaretta in four sets on Thursday. Leading scorers included Reese Virgin with 25 service points including a 13 point run in the first set. Virgin also added 13 kills and 17 digs. Maddie Colahan led in kills with 18 and Hillarie Habermehl had 13. Rachel Miller had 2 solo blocks. Gracie Frey had 32 assists. The Sailors play next at Willard on Tuesday.

The Lady Sailors JV team defeated Margaretta in two sets on Thursday at home. Defensive plays from Jessica Wilson and Abby Spencer helped setter Lexi Logsdon feed Brooke Polak, Emma Haber, Regan Maki, and Emma Bartlebaugh who had multiple kills. Emma Haber added 2 solo blocks and service runs from Lexi Logsdon, Brooke Polak, Abby Spencer, and Regan Maki kept the team ahead. The team plays next on Tuesday in Willard.

Meet Recap

The Rain came down once again on the Sailor versus Trucker matchup, yet the determination of the players and coaches reigned over the elements. The teams after an hour+ delay managed to prepared the courts and play a spirited match on Wednesday. With a shake-up to the lineup, the sailors had some very competitive matches on all courts, yet fell to a very strong Norwalk team. Leading the way were the 2nd doubles team of Skyler Myers and Erin Brenner. They started off very strong, yet were unable to re-adjust to the Trucker’s strategy. (5-7, 0-6). Kiana Fridrich, in her first varsity singles (2nd) action, struggled to finish points against a hard hitting Norwalk player. (1-6, 0-6). Karsyn Brewer (1st singles) and Olivia Stacklin (3rd Singles) played some great points with some effective ball striking, yet fell (0-6, 0-6). The 1st Doubles team of Macy Boger and Kelsey Osborn lost a fierce match (0-6, 1-6). The Sailors have another match Thursday against Sandusky!

Meet Recap

Fresh off of the long weekend, the Sailors took on the Pirates of Perkins in a dual match on Tuesday. Returning from a wrist injury, Karsyn Brewer started strong in 3rd singles, yet came up short (2-6, 1-6). Similarly in 1st Doubles, Kiana Fridrich and Skyler Myers had some early success against the Pirates, only to lose momentum and fall (2-6, 0-6). The second Doubles team of Erin Brenner and Olivia Stacklin had a slow start, but started finding a rhythm later in the match. Their scores were (1-6, 2-6). In 1st and 2nd Singles, Kelsey Osborn and Macy Boger failed to get on the scoreboard agains some tough opposition. Both made an effort, yet finished (0-6, 0-6)
The Sailors take on Norwalk in a make-up match on Wednesday.
