The Lady Sailors track team got there competitive season started over the spring break with a duel meet at Edison on Tuesday March 30th and then traveled to Margaretta for a relay invitational competing against 10 different schools.
On Tuesday at Edison the sailors were led by Senior Alex Trendle winning the 100m & 200m; following Alex in the 200m for a clean sweep for the sailors was Hallie Habermehl with a 2nd place finish and Sabrina Lian with a 3rd place finish. Hallie also had a 2nd place finish in Long Jump and the 400m. Brinley Partin helped on the track with a 2nd place finish in the 100 hurdles, as well as Wren Wilfing with a 3rd place finish in the 2 mile. The sailors also had a strong showing in the field events with a Freshmen Cam Lowder getting her season off to a strong start with a 1st place finish in long jump. Senior Jasymn Zimmerman also got a victory for the sailors in shot put with Angelique Garcia scoring a 3rd place finish in shot put and discus. Rounding the rest of the field events were Kaitlyn Colahan placing 2nd with Brinley Partin placing 3rd in the high jump.
On Saturday the lady sailors finished 7th our of 11 teams. They were led by their field events with a 4th place finish by the discus relay team of Megan Rini, Jasymn Zimmerman, & Destiny Antonio. As well as a 4th place finish by the long jump team of Camrin Lowder, Hallie Habermehl, & Julia Peter. On the track showing a strong performance was 5th place finishes by the Hurdle crew of Camrin Lowder, Brinley Partin, Maddy Fortney, & Katlyn Colahan. As well as the 4x200m relay team of Hallie Habermehl, Alex Trendle, Sabrina Lian, & Camrin Lowder.
The Boy’s Track Team finished 6th in a field of 11 teams at the Polar Bear Relay’s this past weekend. The Sailors were led by the Distance group as the team of Jayden Bearden, Alex Hershberger, Cameron Logue and Luke See finished 1st in the 4 x 800 Relay and the team of Alex Hershberger, AJ Jackson, Cameron Logue and Luke See finished 2nd in the 4 x 1600 relay. The Boy’s Discus Team of Hayden Valenti, Ben Rini and Isaac Looks finished 2nd. Hayden had the 2nd top throw overall in the Discus and had the top overall throw in the Shot Put. 6th place: Sprint Medley Nick Hawley, Ayden Bath, Cardi Woodward, Payton Birdwell
The Sailors Track Team competes again on Tuesday in a Home Dual Meet against Bellevue and then travel to New London for the New London Relays on Saturday.
