OFFICIAL RESULTS

ELYRIA –  The Vermilion Cross Country program sent all four (4) teams to compete at the Open Door Christian XC Invitational on Tuesday, September 10th on the campus of Lorain County Community College.

Luke See led the Purple and Gold with a Runner-Up finish.  His time of 17:28 was the top-time of his career on the Community College course, and just 1 second shy of the Individual Champion and 2018 All-Ohio performer Matt Pettegrew of Columbia. See was joined on the awards podium by teammate Alex Hershberger (10th/19:40), who turned in a performance 60-seconds faster than he did on the same course a year ago.

The Sailor scoring was rounded out by Jayden Bearden (38th/21:07), Aiden Miller (63rd/23:29), and Zach Jones (67th/23:52).
The team finished 6th (177 points) of 14 teams competing just ahead of SBC foe Sandusky (180 points).

The girls team finished 7th of 9 teams competing, the squads best finish of 2019 thanks to Top-25 efforts from Allison Leoplod (20th/25:09), and Clara Smith (25th/25:57).

The scoring was rounded out by Gracie Frey (45th/28:40), Danielle McGlothin (66th/31:19, and Grace Morris (68th/31:23).

“The ladies competed hard today on a hot day on a tough course” Coach Ladd said.  “The girls were much more aggressive today in the race, putting themselves in a position to be successful and compete with our rivals right from the start. We fell short of defeating Firelands today (7 points), however they are a really good match-up for us, just give us a few more week and we will be ready for the Stillman Cup.
