Congratulations to the girls track team on their 2nd place finish out of 13 teams Friday night at the Brookside Invitational. Once again it was a full team effort scoring in 14 out of 17 events. Leading the way with first place finishes was Freshmen Bekah Kovarik in the 300m Hurdles & Sophomore Macy Urig in Pole Vault. Macyâs vault of 9â7â was a new meet and school record!!!
Second place finishes went to the 4x200m relay team of CeCe Dillon, Bri Gasdick, Carrington Partin, & Caitlyn Schnur. CeCe also took second in the 200m and 3rd in High Jump, while Junior Emily Wagner took home two second place finishes in the mile & 2 mile, and Senior Caitlyn Schnur finished 2nd in High Jump and 3rd in the 400m. Sophomore Maggie Hoffman made it in time from her softball game to take a 3rd place finish in the 800m. Others to round out the scoring for the lady sailors was; the 4x800m relay team of Rachel Frisky, Grace Keller, Maddy Urig, & Emily Wagner (4th), Theresa Albrethsen shot put (4th), Bekah Kovarik 100m hurdles (5th), 4x100m relay team of Emily DeWitt, Alexis Herchler, Carrington Partin, & Macy Urig (6th), Grace Keller 1 mile (7th), Macy Urig long jump (7th), & Caitlyn Schnur long jump (8th).
The lady sailors will continue competition this evening in a tri-meet between Huron & Oak Harbor
The Boy’s Track travelled to Brookside this weekend and finished 5th and just 3 points shy of 4th in a 12 team field. This is their best showing of the year and continues their overall improvement each and every day. Doug O’Donnell led the way with a 1st place finish in the Pole Vault with a vault of 12’ 0” his career best and then he followed that up with a 1st place finish in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 43.86 seconds. Justin See took 3rd in the 1600m run and 8th in the 800m Run, Isaac Lindo also had a great day in the distance races as he finished 5th in the 3200m run and 7th in the 1600m run. Josh Flynn rounded out our multiple event finishes with a 4th place finish in Shot and a 5 place finish in the discus both career best throws for Josh. And rounding out the scoring were Luke Pena with a 3rd place finish in the High Jump, Seth Lyons with an 8th place finish in the Shot and Cole Newsome with an 8th place finish in the 100m. Great job by the sailors.
The Track Team next runs at Huron with a Tri-Meet with host Huron as well as Oak Harbor.
